I think the restore fails if you used an N810 firmware on the N800 and backed up that and restore to the final IT2008 release. If you press and hold on it for a moment an underline fills in under the arrow which is the sign that shift lock has been enabled. Not terribly obvious, but it works. @James - Glad it worked for you!
