Canola2 is here and wonderful!
Canola2 was released yesterday and it’s really quite nice! While it’s a beta and there are a few rough spots (importing and dealing with podcasts and internet radio) I would recommend this to anyone looking to take advantage of media on their tablet.
I just did a quick video overview using a cool new service called Qik live from my N95 — Here’s a 5 min overview:

So cool… I could never get it to download last night (even tried Xterm like you did). I’ll try again tonight, though.

once you install MPlayer, you can do all kinds of cool tricks…

Sadly, it doesn’t live up to the hype.
I’d prefer version 1 over this as it stands now, but once UPnP is back in the mix it will be tolerable…

There have been some repository issues since the release of 2008 … seems to be getting better, but I can suggest you try changing the repository name to repostory (not repository).maemo.org temporarily … seems to help get things through for the time being.

Also - If you install MPlayer Canola will use that from within which is a nice bonus.

Canola2 is very nice indeed, I’ve added Canola-tuning which allows Album Cover and Video Thumb download via a Python script, but really waiting to see what the addons from Canola2 are going to be?
One thing that does annoy me about Canola2 and not sure if the old one had the same problem is when you want to do something else and put Canola2 in the background you can’t get the virtual keyboard to appear until you close Canola2 down.
